Herald Sun: Sudan government on alert [28jul04]

And the fact that Us oil companies have spent over $40 billion dollars on infrastructure has nothing to do with the push by the US to intervene. Although why have the companies walked away when Sudan has so many oil reserves.

However all oil sarcasm aside, this has been a devastating humanitarian crisis for a long time, and the UN need to get involved sooner rather than later, all opposition from Egypt and Sudan aside.
Herald Sun: No backdown on Downer comments [28jul04]

What the #@%#$%? Where does our Foreign Affairs minister get off passing comment on other governments policies? And the notion that withdrawing troops encourages terrorism.. does this possibly mean that sending troops discourages terrorism? It certainly seems to have reduced the threat of terrorism.

FFS all they have done is created yet another generation of fanatical defendants of their "terrorist" cause. How the hell can acts of war within Iraq by people opposed to the occupation be terrorism? The same acts during WW2 by French resistance etc. were freedom fighters, same thing here depending on which side of the war you are on.

PM condemns Filipino pullout of Iraq - National - www.theage.com.au

I really don't think Johnny should be offering foreign policy advice to the Phillipines.

Yes, the Phillipines are wrong to give in to terrorism. What if it was a friend of Johnny though? The families of hostages don't really give a toss about the global approach to terrorism. As PM he needs to protect Australian citizens first, then the interests of the US second... oh wait no intervention on David Hicks or on Habib thingamy... Guess he's not so keen on protecting Australian citizens.

Terror war may last a generation: Downer

Umm d'uh!!

Although how they manage to say in one release that going to war in Iraq diminished the terrorist threat and The white paper outlines the nature and international dimensions of the evolving terrorist threat to Australia. that it is evolving at the same time... uuuuh, can't think, head hurts.
Oops

Okay so I thought that the last post didn't take must be a bit of a bug issue with either firefox, or the work proxy server. D'oh guess that's what I get for blogging from work.
Bush appeal for gay union ban

Please, since when did the president get to legislate emotions and the validity of a relationship. Is he so out of step with the world that he hasn't realised family is no longer a man, woman, a dog and 2.4 kids?
Bush appeal for gay union ban

"I am deeply disappointed that the effort to pass a constitutional amendment affirming the sanctity of marriage as being between a man and a woman was temporarily blocked in the Senate," he said in a statement.

Who is he to define a relationship? And why the hell is Johnny jumping on the bandwagon, totally inappropriate to legislate emotions.

Howard knew about dirt unit: Latham

Ian Hanke has had his finger in the pie of every nasty piece of work undertaken by the Howard government, the perfect person for the job of dirt digger.

He should lose his position over this, but he won't.
Pfft JH says we need to be more polite

In an earlier speech billed as outlining his goals for the future, Mr Howard drew on the death of Test cricketer David Hookes and sex allegations against footballers to describe the problems facing the country.

So is it impolite to make allegations of sexual misconduct or is the act impolite? I would assume it is impolite to be killed by a bouncer....
